Hi, I'm Minhaz.

Senior Software Engineer at Sainsbury's Digital, Tech & Data, based in London. Toptal freelancer (top 3%), competitive programmer, and a long-time Gopher. I write Go for a living, ship developer tools on the side, and try to keep systems boringly reliable.
01 / About
I've been writing code professionally for more than a decade — a trajectory that's taken me from Dhaka to Sofia to London, through Pathao, Musala Soft, Amazon, and now Sainsbury's Digital, Tech & Data, where I'm a Senior Software Engineer building backend systems in Go.
I cut my teeth on competitive programming — the habit of reaching for the right data structure before the right framework has stuck with me ever since. I published four peer-reviewed papers during my research-assistant years (IEEE + Elsevier, on wireless sensor networks and computer vision for road-safety in Bangladesh). These days I spend most of my time on distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and making them dull enough to sleep through.
On the side, I take on selective freelance work through the Toptal network (top 3% of global talent) and occasionally speak at the Golang Meetup Dhaka community. I also build small developer tools whenever something annoys me enough — a VS Code extension for Go, an IP watcher for dynamic DNS, a Raspberry Pi fan controller, and a handful of CLIs.
Away from the screen, I'm a practicing Muslim and a proud dad of two daughters — the best part of any day is the one I spend with them. It's also excellent training for debugging under pressure.

-
Software Engineer · early career
2012 — 2017Furqan Software · Mukto Software · North South University
Five years that shaped how I think about software. Worked across backend, web and embedded, plus research-assistant and teaching-assistant stints at NSU — where I built computer-vision and wireless-sensor-network systems (and helped lead the NSU team in the NASA Lunabotics Mining Competition).

Competitive programmer
Long-runningOnline judges & contests
Grew up on algorithmic contests — it's where I learned to think in invariants, prefer the simpler data structure, and stop writing code before I've finished thinking.
05 / Research & recognition
A few things I've published and won along the way — mostly from my research-assistant years at North South University.
Published research

▌
I'm starting to write up lessons from production Go, devex, and infrastructure. First post lands soon — in the meantime, my open-source work is the best signal.
